Test handshake before provisioning new server

GridPane configures the OS firewall during provisioning but can't do anything about network-level firewalls that would prevent a successful provision. Can GridPane please perform a test handshake before starting the provisioning to ensure that all ports are accessible?
There are some custom environments where a client cannot easily terminate and recreate a server, or where there is a cost involved to doing so, should an OS reinstall be required. A handshake would avoid such egg-on-the-face scenarios.
